December 1 is World AIDS Day and is AIDS related to hearingloss

Every year, December 1 is World AIDS Day. Let's take care of AIDS patients without and prejudice and. Is #AIDS related to #hearingloss?

U.S. researchers say #HIV infection may cause hearing loss in adults.

Peter Torr and others from the University of California San Diego assessed the hearing problems of 262 men and 134 women, with an average age of 57, 117 of whom were HIV positive, while the average age of women was 48, with 105 HIV positive.

Studies have shown that people infected with HIV have poorer low-frequency hearing from 250 Hz to 2000 Hz and high-frequency hearing from 3000 Hz to 8000 Hz compared with uninfected people. This kind of hearing impairment is not related to the long-term use of antiretroviral drugs, the number of HIV in the body and the number of CD4 immune cells in the body.

The results were published online the same day in the Journal of the American Medical Association, otolaryngology - volume of head and neck surgery. "To our knowledge, this is the first study to show that HIV positive people have relatively poor hearing within the normal frequency range, taking into account many other known factors that affect hearing," the researchers wrote in the paper.
